CM of Rajasthan Mr Ashok Gehlot has asked Central Government to change funding pattern of Jal Jeevan Mission for Rajasthan from 50:50 (Centre:State) to 90:10 (Centre:State).
Mr Gehlot has written a letter to Minister of Jal Shakti Mr Gajendra Singh Shekhawat highlighting about the geographical conditions and desert landscapes of Rajasthan.
As per newspapers the letter also states that till 2013 under National Rural Drinking Water Project for desert areas the funding pattern was 90:10 only which was restructured to 60:40 and now 50:50.
Mr Gehlot also said that Rajasthan has 85% area in dark zone and 1/3rd water quality effected rural areas are here. Despite such odd Climatic pattern Rajasthan has been kept on par with other states like Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat etc.
